It will once again be held at DIS on May 14th-16th. It should also follow the same format with the sign in/party on Friday, courses on Saturday and Beach Parade on Sunday.

The weekend before (May 8th), The Pirates of Moor will be hosting a Topless Day event (working out venue, vendors and type of event now)

However, BIG things are on the horizon. I can't divulge yet, but the area clubs are cooking some big ideas.

Now, here's the question of the day. If you didn't already have the desire to come to Florida, what events/activites would lure you down here for that week?

It should take about 8 hours to get here, maybe a little longer depending on driving habits and when you get to Jacksonville.

What facilities are you looking for?

As for rooms, Mid Florida Jeep Club is working out some room specials with a large hotel group that owns a bunch of hotels beachside. Can't remember the name of the group right now but once I get it I'll pass it on.

That sounds good. i may bring the family down, wife and 2 daughters, so i'd need a hotel probably. (if they don't come, camping with showers is good for me). 8 hours in a CJ may be my demise, but who knows...

thanks and i'll look for the info!!

The official announcement from Pirates of Moor wil be made in a couple weeks, but here's what I can leak.

On May 8, 2010 we're doing a cruise from New Smyrna Beach to Ormond Beach along the coast (mostly) as well as the scenic "loop" along the North Peninsula. This should be about a two hour drive, all on hard top.

When we get to the final DESTINATION, just outside of DAYTONA, we'll have an off road course, vendors and other activities, Jeep related and otherwise.

We have a meeting scheduled for next week with our host and should be ready to unveil the main portion soon after that. Once it's finalized, I'll post it up here.

This is the kick off to Jeep Week. Just like the bikers have Bike Week, this is OUR event! Throughout the week, we'll have opportunities for trail rides, meet and greets and other activities.

OK, here's the "so far"'. This is still a work in progress, so more is expected to be added as we get support for it.

"It's a Jeep Thing" celebrating National Go Topless Day hosted by Pirates of Moor Jeep and 4X4 Club of Central Florida
May 8, 2010

We'll be starting out at New Smyrna Jeep, riding up US 1 to Beach Street in Daytona then to SR 4O. We'll take that East until we hit A1A. The we'll hit "The Loop", which runs through a tree lined 2 lane narrow road along the Tomoka River and its backwaters.

Around noon we'll hit Brice Rossmeyer's Destination Daytona. I know, this is a Harley place, but they are set up to support any type of activity. The events/activities so far.

-Mud pit
-"Light" obstacle course
-Vendors and displays. These are slowly coming in and only a handfull are confirmed, but others are interested and will be on board after the holidays.
-Live music at Saints and Sinners Pub (on Rossmeyer's property)
-Kids Zone
-Raffles and 50/50
-Cornhole Tournament
-Show and (un)Shine

Registration is $10, which goes to support Boys and Girls Clubs. SPectators are free

The pit/course will run until 6 or so then we'll hit the closing ceremonies with the raffle drawings and thank you's, THEN.....

The after party at Saints and Sinners, sponsored by Cruzan Rum

Special room rates at Rossmeyer's hotel are forthcoming and they are expected to be a really great deal!

For those that went to Jeep Beach last year, don't expect that kind of wheeling. We'll be doing some, but nothing like their extreme course. Expect something along the lines of the last trail they had set up but longer.

Details will be steady coming in.....

Thanks for the updates Mike. I wish I could afford to make it for a week but I dont think thats going to happen. I will be there May 14th-17th. I am thinking of staying at the plaza ocean club resort. They have a restaurant on site that is open for breakfast and its about the nicest place in a good area(read-bars and beach) that isnt $150 or more a night. One room for 3 nights is $332.64 and for ocean view its $366.24.

Nahhhh..I am serious..I do hope you can make it. As far as the crash car driving school..haven't you gotten that down pat by now...and you did it without the classes! Ha ha ha ha.

If you are talking about the Petty thing...from what I am seeing, it is on a first come first serve basis, and only takes reservations for special race weekends. I am going to call them on the phone for some clarity.

Link has cost and open slots for DIS http://www.1800bepetty.com/experience/S ... ls_DA.aspx

I did an open track day at Rockingham a couple years ago in the blue car. I started out going into turn 1 @ 85mph and thought that if I went any faster I was going into the wall. By the last session (had 10 20 minute sessions) I was going into turn 1 @ 135mph. Its a very big rush to be going that fast on 24 degree banking using the throttle to steer the car. That weekend I was running with a Lambo Countach, Porsche Turbo, Lotus Elise, WRX STI, 350Z with boost. To bad track days are so expesive they sure are a lot of fun.

Daytona would be crazy fun with the speeds you could hit in the turns.

Thanks for the bump, Jeff!

Just a couple of notes, though. First, the Pirates event on May 8 is in limbo. If you were planning on making it for that, hold off. Hopefully there will be something, if not well it's another to trail ride!

Second, there have been some minor and sporadic glitches with the reservations and discounts. If you run into a problem, contact Mid Florida Jeep Club and they'll jump all over it with a quickness.

I found out today that NASA has a shuttle launch planned for may 14th around 2pm. I think I might try to make it since they only have a couple more launches before the shuttle is retired. If you haven't seen it live it is something special for sure!

I doubt we would be able to but I will probably try. I am thinking of getting as close as possible, maybe get a spot on the causeway leading into Kennedy Space Center.

Any idea yet as far as times for the Sunday events? I'm trying to work it out so that I can go to this, and I would really hate to miss the parade. But, I would have to be back at work Monday morning...

I want to get it figured out ASAP so I can go ahead and get a room!

Last year it was around 8 or 9am when we all met on the beach then drove for an hour or 2 in the parade. It was over around lunch time. This year we will probably have a lot more jeeps so it might take longer.

I guess it really does pay to get your room early. OceanFront for two nights ran me $380. Who cares? I'm going to Daytona Beach!

I may have to skip the April Coal Creek trip due to fundage and usage of days off, but I should be able to make all of the rest of the trips this year...

Did anybody else pre-register online? Will they e-mail me some sort of certificate to print out?

I am going to pre-register..I just haven't done it yet. I can't remember if they sent out something last year or not. I know when we went in on the first day, we went to registration and they had all our names on the list......and if you order T-shirts, all that will be there with the things that you are given. Last year we were given our speedway passes the morning of the event...as you entered.

Finally pre-registered tonight for Jeep Beach. YAY! Ready to go! Also, reminder for those that are going to preregister.....I believe the cost goes up after April 2, so in order to save a few bucks, you may want to go ahead and get that done!

I am all registered! I got 1 shirt and 1 extra dogtag! (I didnt get a dogtag last year so I had to make up for it this time) Now lets hope I have my lift by then!

I think it goes up May 2 not April 2. :D

This video is from last year.

The plan for mike, jojo and myself is to head out Thursday the 13th for daytona in the early afternoon. Then Friday morning drive down to cocoa beach to find a place to watch the shuttle launch then drive back to daytona to register. If anyone wants to convoy post up!

13 DAYS!!!
